Wyoming Fishing
« on: Jan 25, 2009, 07:54 PM »
Went down to Wyoming on Sunday targetting Catfish, ling, and whatever we could catch. We fished live bait at varied depths during the daytime trying to target catfish and ended up with 4 walleyes. It was a beautiful day to be out on some hard water. I can't wait for open water!!!!!

So many fish, so little time.

Now from the debates that have taken place here, I believe those are sauger.
Anyway, nice catch!

Horseshoe Bend sauger.  Notice the white on the tail of one. But that doesn't mean anything. ;)  But also notice that the one fish looks very much like a walleye except for the spotted dorsal fin.  Easy mistake to make.  The guys with red shirts and dark green trucks are the only one who get to vote.

Whoopsies....Yeah, they're sauger. I mistyped-I also read the thread on sauger/saugeye/walleye.  I've been lurking on this forum for about 3 weeks and finally had a few minutes last night to sit down and sign up for my free membership.  I'm no newbee to fishing and plan to fish Wyoming a few more times this feb and march (depending on weather). I'm a proud feild staff member of Montana Catfish Association and have become quite involved in our forum. (www.montanacats.com). 2009 will be the first year that we offer an actual tournament circuit. One of the four tourneys offered will be on Bighorn reservoir.  The Friends of the Bighorn Reservior will be putting on a tournament some time in June in conjunction with Montanacats.com. My tournament partner and I fished last year and ended up placing 3rd. Hopefully this year we can have a much better showing and give the defending champions some competition. As far as icefishing goes-I'm interested in targetting big catfish through the ice. If anyone has any suggestions or would be willing to have me tag along for a weekend it would be much appreciated. If you're worried about your honey holes being exposed you can just PM me. Anyways-My name is Tyler and I look forward to many more Wyoming trips. It's good to be on board!!!!!!
