Hey mo! Went up to canyon ferry over the weekend..caught a few 16 to 18 in ling..and one 21inch bow. The shack works awesome. I went out and got a mr heater..turns that place into a tiki hut. Keep me updated on the ling if you catch any..i might have to make a trip over there.

The only time I've had consistent fishing for ling is about 1 hour before sunset until a couple after. It is pretty slow the rest of the time but maybe I'm doing something wrong.
same thing here in Alberta...I start an hour before sunset ( 5pm) and leave at about (830 Pm) and that is exactly when I have the most action

Hey outhntn, how has cooney been for ling? I have been wondering. Thanks Mo.
Been fairly consistent the 3 times I've been this winter.  I use either fresh frozen 3-4" minnows or larger ones cut in half about 6" to a foot off the bottom.  It seemed a chartruese blade or jighead helped.  15 FOW to 30 FOW seemed to be the ticket, all over the lake.  Fished the dam in early January and caught 3.  North shore late January and caught 3 and off fisherman's point last Sat and caught 2.  Missed quite a few others each time.  Only 1 trout, but I've only fished from 4-9 pm or so.  BTW - Caught a fat 31" and a 24" ling last time, which made for a nice meal!  Good fishin' - OH

I know where Martinsdale is but where exactly is Sutherland? How do I get there from Billings? Mo, are you the same Mo that use to work for Yesllowstond Co?
If so, we have met.

Jigging seems to work the best, but have had a few on deadsticks also. Use a chartruese jighead or blade above the hook.  Best time 5-9PM. Good luck- OH

I am taking the week off. Anyone in the Billings area want to head to Cooney some evening? Give me a shout. I have a tent and all the equipment. Other then I have a hand auger instead of a gas one.

No problem. Sure, give me a call anytime. I think that I will be working around Billings for a while longer. I live here, but work out of town at times.

Ever ling fish on the Yellowstone? I have not in years, but use to a lot. From Wako to the east and have csught ling as far west as Greycliff.
