I'm thinking about taking a ride out to Indian lake to see what the ice looks like today. I've been told if u have a legal parking spot there your allowed to fish the lake. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

I plan on taking a drive up Thursday afternoon to highpoint to check it out. I will post what I see. If it's good I will be up there Saturday also. I will be in a Eskimo shanty. Stop bye and say hello.

I think a lot of people will be, I know me and my buddy will be if the ice can hold up and hopefully gets a little better. But I think there be a lot of guys in Eskimo shanty, me being one too. It will be packed I think being first good ice. But if I see you I will stop by and say hello. Also Rangerphil, it be great for the update on how the ice looks, so thanks in advance.

Just saw someone post that there was still some open water on highpoint. It is in the forties today and supposedly warmer tomorrow. May have to wait another week.

Anyone fish Lake Somerset? I was there twice early ice. No human tracks or sled marks. Place is full of big walleye and bass. Caught lots in the summer but i havent been able to find fish through the ice. Tryed the other end where the sandbar is. The dam. And between the boat launch and pier. Had one on at night but lost it right between the dock and pier in 3' of water on a large shiner.

We were on lake somerset in the morning and high point in the afternoon on Saturday.  We felt really safe at lake somerset because the state was holding a cold water rescue training exercise there and had most of the cold water rescue units in the state there practicing lol.

We caught fish at Somerset Lake but they were all small. Gills and perch, no keepers.  Somerset Lake is said to have nice walleye there but we didn't mark any.  We caught some decent crappie and perch at High Point between 9 and 12 inches.  Landed a pickerel there also.
