Take a kid fishing
« on: Jan 23, 2019, 04:19 PM »
I didn't want to clog the other thread up so started this.
I know full throttle does and as do I.  It would be cool to see more folks sharing their outdoors experiences with kids , young and old.  My boys are 33 years and I have 9 grandchildren.  All of which know about outdoorsmanship.
Share anything you wish,  to me it ain't gotta just be ice.
Teach them well.

Tonight I'm attending a cub scout meeting to discuss an event I put together this upcoming weekend on the ice for the scouts.
As always,  a scouts motto is to be prepared.
Like I said,  my grandson is already a pro at reeling in fish, even a 40" striper. Just need him to get a handle on holding fish , lol

We did open water and solid water. . It was awesome to see them get "hooked" on fishing. . I signed slot of merit badge cards. .   ;) I hope I started a whole new generation of fisherman. . In fact I know I did. . There fishing my spots . . Lol . .

Hey Got em how long you lived in Ravena? I grew up in that area. I am in Guilderland now and was a scout leader and took both cub scouts and boy scouts on ice fishing trips and they loved it. always try and take my son with me when we go. Tight lines all

So today is a special day in history.  For our family, my twin boys were born 1/28/86.
The other is space shuttle challenger tragically took lives.

33 years later,  all I'm saying is,  take a kid fishing.  The future is bright . These are the people we want to carry on.

7 year old grandson dragged his sled jr through the 8" snow to come fishing in negative 11 temperatures again today with his father and grandfather ( me).
Down and up a steep hill to a peaceful lake in adks again in search for Lakers.
While today was not his day,  it was still a day he will remember as fish were iced

Nice job Rowan 👍
You are definitely getting out there in experience.  My grandson was thrilled to be out even though he wasn't catching. We broke first tracks and trail .
He actually is doing it again tomorrow with his dad, me I'm going for panfish in a different lake.
Take kids fishing,  young or old.
You never stop learning.

Yeah he did good today. Started out with a 5 mile atv ride. Nailed some eyes with the jig, good day of the gsl . Marked about 20 fish. Didn’t set up any jawjackers because the wind picked up big time.
