favorite size minnows

All of you that use minnows for crappies, especially using tip downs, what size minnow do you prefer ? The smaller ones or the regular fatheads ?

Inch and a half long emerald shiners if you can get them.

pin minnows on jiggy pole and 2" to 3" on a tip up this year movin down again to size 8 and 10 trebles got alot of small bait they work well for me i'm a meathog i mean resource utilization expert  so its bass crappie perch bull bluegill and ocassional eye for the freezer,note in the dead of winter my little bait steady action when they "shut off"

I like my fatheads.  Just becuase I don't want to mess around with the small crappies.

I love fat heads, but they are not easily gotten out here in Wyoming.

In my area pinhead minnows and what we use for crappie. buy them by the scoop they are tiny but give off lots of action and shine.

The smaller the better for me just seems to work best where i fish.

It depends on what I am going after.

The last few years, my best luck has been on rosie reds.

I think the reason may be because they are "something different" from what the fish usually see.
They have been awesome for Rainbows, but Brown trout seem to prefer the regular fathead minnows.

Rosie reds, if they are small enough, do seem to get more attention from the perch.
