Dropper loop.

Make the loop as long as you like.

I tie the top hook with a Palomar knot and tie the bottom one on the long tag end.

I tie a smaller jig on first with palomar or Trilene knot, then tie a larger jig, with about a foot leader, directly to the bend of the hook on the small jig with a Trilene knot.

Might try running the smaller jig on the bottom, next time on the ice. Could give it some fluid movement with lighter leader.

Does anyone have a preference on the position of their larger jig?

Usually the largest is above, as an attractor and maybe a large spoon,  the smaller below is usually what gets taken by your quarry.       ;)2

Gonna switch it up.

Flyfishing, I always tie the larger fly on first when running a hopper/dropper, multiple nymphs, dry dropper, etc. Not sure why I got it reversed on the hardwater.

Thanks!

Jeez, I hope I'm right, ha.    I've seen many ole timers fishing 4 FOW on ice, with a 5" shiny spoon about 15" above a tiny jig or small hook with cut bait.
They had a bucket of 15 or more ready rigged rods and another bucket half full of fish.

They never seemed to smile, having been discovered, ha.      ;)2

Good luck.

If we ever get iced in, I'll meet you at Widewaters and share some stuff.

i usually do a heavier jig or a jigging spoon on the bottom, and above, i use either a double surgeons loop connected to a jig, or a palomar knot for flies and plain hooks.
