Some of you may not know but BC and Wyoming have had a little friendly competition going on for the last few years. The biggest laker wins and the losing mod had to get a crew cut. Wyoming won the first year and BC won the 2nd year.  I hope I don't lose this year because my hair is fairly long. The Wyoming mods have backed out this year and provided a sacrificial lamb in some Wyo farmer they found. Well he is growing his hair out and looks forward to the "cut". I have more to lose as I'm not looking forward to the cut.
So if you see a little mud throwing, remember its all in fun. Just giving you all some warning ;D
We really do like our neighbours to the south.

Our 41.5 inch one last year was the biggest lake trout posted on any iceshanty tourneys. we can do it again.

I'll second this as I plan on partaking in the friendly competition this year.

41.5" won it and we have to catch a 40"er to qualify for a trophy prize this year...sheesh....Lone Wolf drives a hard bargain LOL.

You can enter any laker in that category. It doesn't have to be 40 inches. That is only for the trophy drawings at the end of tourney. Er-e-is won it with a 39 inch snake the year before.

I just went and checked the "Snake Hole" this afternoon and it still wasn't froze but I'll be back out there when it does freeze. Untill then, I have a couple of more places to try.

Any updates from the B.C. boys????

As for me, been out twice....longest fish has been 23" ...heaviest fish has been a 21" little piglet (not even 5 lbs but gave me a good fight). Fished about 9 hours the passed two days for lakers...caught 12 fish...missed a few....had other hits....charted TONS! Just no big boys bitin' my bait yet.

Trent, better get one of those fish on the boards. It will qualify you for the weekly drawings. Don't matter what size it is, you can upgrade later..

Yep I'm in the short area with the first fish pulled out of the water yesterday. Was only 19" but for the short who cares. That 21" laker I caught had me excited...had the drag relitively loose but it was enough to get every other laker to the top and then mess around with them while getting their head in the hole. This one let me pull him up like a boot for about 30 feet and then just TOOK OFF! I knew he wasn't huge but it was nice to actually get a fight and I was hoping it was a half decent fish. Ended up he had been the only laker with any energy as he's the only one that's been getting anything to eat!!! May head back out again tomorrow.

BC boys!!!!?????

I just have to set the record straight here . No mods backed out. As you recall I was all for it, but Wyofarmer was so dang set on being the sacrificial lamb I couldn't go and break the poor guy's heart  ;D  Besides, maybe I new a little something before hand about who I might be recruiting as our future mod

Good luck this season!

We just need one nice fish to set the bar!

Too bad you guys are getting skunked...honestly. I'm having a ton of fun messing with the small lakers on the vex. It is a blast! I've had everything from messing with one and having a fish come on and whack it that was previously unseen to reeling up 20 feet and watching the little sucker fly up the screen and just smack it. It's been great. Need to catch up on some sleep then I'm back after it! The high today is supposed to be 7 degrees and I was spoiled last weekend in some great weather so I backed out of going today...wuss, i know.

Good things come to those who wait bait. Hope BC doesn't have to wait till the dying seconds of the 3rd period again this year. A little to cold for this old boy right now. We do have some lakes that easily produce 34-36 inchers but gonna get bigger this year so gotta explore more, which can be fun. ;D

Definately looking forward to some monsters being posted in this category.

What it's -60?   ;D
Seems I remember you fishing in -49 not too long ago.
I'm spending this weekend indoors building rods (hopefully yours too if the guides are waiting at the PO)   ;)2
Been in the -40's with wind the last couple of days and it's supposed to last until late next week.   :'(

Getting older bud. Can't take the -30 and high winds anymore unless I'm in a tent. Had no choice when it was -49 ;), now I do ;D

At -49 you'd be hard pressed to find me out of bed that day. That's just outrageous, and I live in Wyoming...which I guess contrary to popular belief....isn't the coldest place on earth!

Were getting a huge dump of snow right now which is making our laker lakes tretcherous. A few inches of ice with a few feet of snow makes me want to stay off. Guess there is always overtime :woot:
