Thanks for the compliments. All you do to raise or lower is put your feet on the skis so they don't move and lift to raise or push to lower. I am going to put some keepers on the stops to help with any lateral movement. The pull rope goes through the skis and then terminates at the sled. So you are always pulling against the stops. That way it will not collapse when you do not want it to.

thomps, it looks like you repurposed my old Flexible Flyer! Well done!

Nice sled, I like the way it flips over.
You are right about using your noggin. I am retired and have no pension or SS yet. So when I see something I would like, I try my best to come up with a way of making it myself.
That is half the fun anyhow. Plus it gives me something to do on these very cold days.

Here are a few pics of the completed drop down smitty sled. I do have to move my skis about 3" back so it will fit in my truck. Minor detail, won't affect the build or performance at all.

You can see how I put a brace on the outside of the leg stop. This keeps lateral movement to a minimum.
Now if the weather would warm just a little I will get it out on the lake.

I made the whole thing. Made the tub out of alum. Made the frame out of pvc. Sew the fabric for the tent. Bent pvc for the runners on the sled. I have about 50.00 in the whole thing.
