Title: Long handle skimmer.
Post by: Smelt1 on Dec 22, 2002, 04:22 AM
If your like me and have had some problems with your back and you can't seem to bend over as much to skim out the holes make a long handled skimmer like I did.I took an old ski pole and cut the pointed end off.Next either cut off or bend straight the handle of your skimmer.Slightly squash the end of your ski pole and insert your skimmer up into it.Secure by drilling some holes and inserting some small bolts and nuts and walla no more bending over! Also the strap that usally comes on the ski pole helps with keeping your skimmer off the bottom. ;D

I saw a telescoping one earlier this year.  Was 6 or 7 dollars.  I am kicking myself for not getting it while they still had some in stock.

You can also use some wing nuts to fasten the extension together if you have limited carrying space.

I picked up an adjustable handled skimmer at Wally World for $5.96.It has a foam grip for comfort and the length eliminates the need to lean over to skim the hole.

Just picked up a HT telescoping skimmer today for only $2.50 on clearance at Walmart. Can't wait to use it.  :'(
