Valentine National Wildlife Refuge - General ice report 11 Feb 2022. Warm and windy weather this week has caused ice conditions to deteriorate and there are large areas of open water on all of the refuge fishing lakes. Was able to get on ice at the west access to Watts Lake where there was 6" of ice, but open water was only 50 yards away. The adage that there are old ice fishermen and bold ice fishermen, but there are no old, bold ice fishermen probably applies. There may be a few places that are fishable through the ice, but ice conditions are poor at best.

A big THANK YOU to Melvin Nenneman from the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge for providing the ice reports for the Nebraska Ice Map!
