i dont get it but thats why my screen name is what it is.i go to any lake even lakes not known for specks and catch them.guys all around catching gills and i end up with crappies.thinking because i target fish high in the water column.

I called my dad last night and was talking to him about the freedom convoy in Canada.
Which by the way, I'm a big supporter of.
But due to that I guess our local grocery stores are running short on some things here in Alaska.
I told my dad I'm not worried about it he just chuckled said he wasn't worried about me either.
We both know I have a decent food supply saved up.
Between my hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, preserving etc I'm not worried at all.
And when I'm not at work I eat better than most people too.

We call them that here, becuz their mouth does extend out, and ya yank too hard on 'em, you end up rippin' lips and losing 'em.

Crappies are tricky to catch because of the very thin membrane around their mouth, which makes it hard to set the hook. This is why they are nicknamed "papermouth." Crappies were introduced in waters statewide from 1800-1920 in locations where they were originally not found.

i know that.lol im from the south and we always called them specks for the speckled dots all over them.

As for dinner tonite.....I haven't a clue. Didn't take anything out to thaw....might be soup and sandwich nite.

I might go get a 1/2lb swiss onion,mushroom burger with onion rings and beer cheese from the local tavern.

fried up some pork sirloin chops and warmed some beets. lil asian sauce on them.

Speaking of Asian sauce (Looks good, river_scum!) Had some chicken tenderloin strips glazed with sweet 'n sour cause, smoky applewood seasoned chicky breasts, smashed taters with chicky gravy, peas with pearl onions, and garlic butter knots.

I WAS gonna ask where the gravy was, but that seems to be a moot point now.

Med rare two-cheese bacon burgers hot off the grill, and a pile of zesty fries with ketchup. Lotsa ketchup. Tanker trucks of ketchup.

that brine works on chunks of back strap too! lol  i cut my straps into 3 chunks and cook the chunks whole.  most time browned hard in bacon grease with ultra rare center.  

oh now im hungry again. lol looks good man
