I just went back into the archives, the last weekend you could fish the King was March 26,27.  I don't think were going to make it to next weekend. :'(

Maybe not but a month ago we didn't think we would even get on the ice. At least I was able to chase some   this year. Good luck everyone and stay safe.

not sure, either.  :-\ but it looks like I've cancelled my friday trip up there. Still fishing Friday, but heading for safer ice with the rain and 50's coming.  :P

I hope you're right slipbob.  Just looked at the weather next week.  Looks like if we weather this weekend we might get a little longer.  Looks to drop back into the 30's and 20's at night starting next Tuesday/Wednesday.  Will be up in the north basin somewhere this Saturday.  GOD SAVE THE KING!!!!

If you guys make it up to the northen basin let me know how the ice is. I stoped in Ti the other day and was surprised to see the lake open down there but then I remembered the current.

I drove to Silverbay and Hague today. A couple guys not very far off shore at town boat launch. and another smallgroup just south of silverbay again not very far from shore. Talked to guys working at Silverbay they said ice is unsafe and they had to help guy out of water the otherday. Ice did not look good at all in northbasin.Im sticking to southern basin Fri and this weekend

I got 8-9 also in NW bay where we were yesterday but the shoreline changed a lot from 7am-1pm.it was fine going on but coming off there was 2" of water on top of the ice about 10ft wide on the west side of the bay. There was a few quads in the bay but we walked for exercize.I know they got on at vet's alright & I'm assuming they got off ok to.I wonder what the rain & warm wheather will do to the shoreline.Gary at the Outdoorsman said don't bring a quad up here when I talked to him Tues.Don't  forget the family of the dude who bit it over in Hulletts Landing is still feeling the pain,he's not.GJ

Small bed at mouth of creek but at this time some years the smelt stage to  run the creek. Feedin on the smelt are lakers and salmon. Icicles if found can be deadly imitations. Problem is the new guard rail they put in this summer took away the parking spot

Anyone have any idea what it would cost to rent a fishing boat on the king for a weekend?
Would like to take the family to the islands for some camping and fishing this spring when temps get a little bit warmer. Last year we waited untill April 15th before we were shorefishing and camping on Indian Lake. Should be cheaper in the spring right?

I think my money would be better spent putting a down payment on my own boat and getting the LG Permit or what ever the extra crap you need up there is!

Thanks for the Info :)

I rent from there in the summer, the thing that stinks is they do not open until 7 and you need to have the boats back by 5.  If you want to fish early/late you need to get the boat for atleast 2 days, and they are not cheap.  Between rental and fuel I think I spent close to 3 bones for one day of a small boat.
