Did you get out to bear last year? Been meaning to check it out but hard to pass up productivity of chautauqua if heading all the way down that way

Had anyone ever ice fished this lake? I fished it during the summer this yr and didnt catch a thing. Back when Clevers was open they always had pics of huge fish taken out of that lake. My grandmother has a camper on the campgrounds there ive been going there for years but never ice fished it.

we used to ice fish it. We used to do well on crappies and a bonus pike here and there, last few times (over 3 years ago) it was very slow. Im sure ill check it at some point, but it is hard with chautauqua right down the road

Stopped by Bear Lake on the way home to check the ice.  There was at least three inches of clear ice by the boat launch and you could see tracks where someone went out and fished north of the channel.  I didn't have a pole with me - but the ice looked good.

I have only been out there once with my daughter.  We tooled around the lake in the jon boat and did alright for small bass and pan fish.

Would’ve liked to make it out there last year, but never did.  Hopefully this year when the ice is safe.

I was there last week. 10 inches of ice. Didn't get one bite. Very slow for me. The time before I caught 1 barely legal crappie and 1 short crappie. Good luck.

Anybody every fished bear lake at night?  Looking for some late night options and just wondering if it is worth checking out.

It's not great during the day, so I'd imagine it's not fantastic at night...

Buddy Art said they limited out on Crappie’s today.
Tricking is easy. It’s the killing which is the hard part.

Does anyone know the ice thickness? I'm going to assume it's around 8. That's about how much was at cassadaga 2 weeks ago.

Fished bear lake yesterday. Ice was at least 8 inches. It was mainly all white ice. Ice was getting sloppy the deeper we went. Picked up nothing more than dink perch where we drilled. Typical day fishing.

My friend Carl is on the lake now. Got a good gill bite going in NE corner. Pulled up two eyes at daybreak off the boyscout camp.
