has any1 ever fished these swamps or live near them....i have fished these swamps a few times in the last 2 years and i know it freezes over fast because of the location and it is small and shallow...if any1 fishes these or lives clsoe to them does any1 know how the conditions are?

I don’t know if I’m doing this right. I’ve fished the swamp are for years. Last year I tried hard to produce fish. Sad to say, that fish were cleaned out when the had contests. Some of the ponds Bass were cleaned out. I was one vehicle and guy hit it every day, I was retired, apparently so was he. He kept everything when I walked down to him. He had a cooler and wouldn’t open it when I asked, and when I went to truck he immediately left or I was calling CO.

After repeated attempts to catch a single bluegill with all the arsenal I had, it was fruitless, not one fish other than two as small as three inches. Sad. I might give it one more try, but I’d rather go to bay at Wilson for perch when they come in first ice.

The swamps used to be a prolific pike fishery. Aside from the fact that it was overfished by the Amish and a small group of Russians who virtually kept everything that they caught, the state drained the water level several years ago and killed most of the weed cover in order to benefit migratory birds. What was once a honey hole with spectacular scenery is now, for the most part, a dead sea. Until nature takes it's course and the fish population recovers, it is a waste of time and effort to fish this body of water as well as Glenwood Lake.

Had to take a ride to the Rez earlier so for and giggles took a ride to ring neck to be shocked that it’s 90 percent iced over. Only open water I saw was on opposite side of dam. Didn’t have any gear with me so couldn’t check ice at all

Do you get any bluegills there?
