got a nice limit of gills, and sunnies !! also 17 crappies !! it was a beautiful day out there ;D ;D ;D.   Sully...

Up to 17 crappies?  Now I'm really getting intrigued.

Getting back to vacuum packing-you really have to get the fish dry to prevent moisture from creeping into the seal.  You can put a strip of paper towel between the last fillets and the seal or you can put the fillets on a cookie sheet and flash freeze the surface moisture in the freezer before sealing them.

When I drove through yesterday there was nobody at Mill St. in Constantia or Taft Bay and a couple vehicles at Cleveland. That being said, access in all 3 spots should be fine for a wheeler. I would venture to guess that just about every access spot is fine for a wheeler right now.

Just pay attention to the cracks, planks/ramps would be a good idea for crossing them and a spud to check them out.

5 degrees here right now. Unreal.

Thanks for the info on vacuum packing! Anyone have a specific brand that seems to work well? I had one years ago for doing venison but had issues  getting a good seal.
They have come along ways since they first came out.  I vacuum seal mine but a bit different. I bread the fillets, freeze them on a cookie sheet then vacuum seal them.  When I seal them I do wax paper in between the layers in the bag.  When it is time to fry I take them out and defrost then for only a few minutes. Then right in the oil frozen. They last well over a year this way. Also, when I give them away all they have to do is fry them. I also do giant bags this way (40 fillets or more), then depending on how many I am cooking for I can re-seal the bag and only cook how many I need.

Yes the vacuum sealers have come a long way. If u buy one that doesn't seal properly return it immediately and try another. I bought one that had a hot spot on the sealing strip, the bags would fail on that spot every time. Back it went. The next one said "extra wide seal" bingo, still working great.

If you haven't tried Google maps yet, give it a whirl.  It is very helpful with getting a lay of the land before heading out.

Muskrat Bay access is via Oneida Shores Park. Once you turn into the park, take the first left past the shack.  You'll see the parking area.

Big Bay has two access points. One is at Big Bay Marina ($5) off Camic Rd and the other is off Kellar Rd (the next road over).
Kellar Rd:  Park at Kangaroo Mini Storage and pay your $3 in the box.  You will have to portage your gear NE about 500 feet to get to the lake (you will pass Ship & Shore Restaurant then go between a couple of houses).

I haven't had any luck with flat fish on Oneida this year but I'm not a good person to ask since this is my first season of serious hard water fishing.
Not a fish slayer (yet).  :)    Good luck.

That's cool, sounds like you are hammering them! I caught a crappie about that same size a few years back on soft water with an ultra light and figured it was a bass. Those kind of crappies  are far and few between.

Hey now, except for a couple spats barely mentioned on the board everyone's been at least somewhat good this year  :angel

I saw over on the Erie board you've got newbies posting fake pics then getting caught doing it while attacking each other.  :roflmao: :roflmao:

Compared to some years cny topics have been rather easy on you.
Heck I don't remember once this yr poking at you & only called RD a friggen hippie once.  ;D
Yeah...the Erie crowd was sumtin' else this season. You boys really did behave yourselves

Still think there's something in that water :-\ besides fish!
