Thought the bite was supposed to be off when the pressure was real high. Am I missing something?

I could be wrong since Im just getting into the whole barometer thing but I think whenever there is decent change in the barometer its causes for better fishing  ???

Made it out this evening for last couple hours before dark. Tried a new spot and ended up catching a bunch of small and medium perch and eyes along with one nice keeper eye.

NICE PIC, DeadEyez

Got my drill in the mail.....thing looks great and seems to be a beast. My wife made me a sack for the auger and drill, to carry it around in. She says that I should show everyone and if anyone is interested, she would make them for about $25.00. I will post the pics later. The sack is very durable and she insulated it, so it will keep the drill and auger from the elements and it will also prevent cuting up your shanty if the blade cover were to come off.

earlier in the season if barometer got low, say below 29.90  fish got funky, by 29.60 they shut down...  latetly if the barometer approaches 30.35 there getting funky... 30.66 right now, it must quite the accomplishment too get them too bite today, I'm sure first 1.5 hours was ok...this afternoon will be painful....thank god for snow cover or you'd have no chance.

Nice setup Pooch.

Hmmmm, now you got me thinking.  I just happen to have an 8" more with a handle that is a little bent and I also happen to have 2 of those milwaukee drills with the red lithium XC batteries.  They are not the fuel model drill but don't think they are much different.  Where did you get the adaptor??

Well I know if you are home posting, pressure is too high to be worth your time!!  Guess I'll wait till tomorrow, hopefully will fall a bit.  I fished way too many "painful" days this year!!

Looks good Pooch!! Let us know how it holds up to the 8". I may have to get some new blades for my extra auger.

My Biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my gear for what i said i paid for it.

Back in 2007 when I had my shoulder injury, I hooked up an 8 inch mora to my Makita, if it gets stuck in the ice, you'll sprain your wrist, it stops dead hard.

I'm home because it was 16 below zero this morning, had too make sure one last time pipes were ok, would hate too be fishin and have a pipe break.

The moon and pressure mean a lot more to me now then when I was in the working class.. Back then I fished when I could and not when pressure and moon said it would be good..
Pressure now is 2 fold.  Barometric pressure and fishing pressure..  I would sooner have the B. pressure a little high than have the fishing pressure even moderate.   But then again, I am of the old school I have posted before.. When the activity on top of the water increases, the activity below the water decreases...   It is also possible the high B. pressure means better weather (generally) and  means more people on the water (ice) ??  Lots of variables to give us excuses for a poor bite.......

I fish when I can regardless of pressure, but I do believe it makes a difference. I am fishing this afternoon, it may be a tough bite but at least I'm out there. Between work and the barometer and ice conditions and wind and any other variables you can think of, it would be almost impossible to be there on the "perfect" day. And guess what.... the wind is out of the east today... :-\

Very true, those drills are torque monsters, I've had them twist me up quite a few times while drilling thicker steel right before they break through.  Never thought about that with the ice.  Hang on tight!!!

Just curious, why did you go back to drilling by hand?? Noise??  Don't want to get into that debate again, just wondering if this setup works ;D
