Better bite too, I hope!I got a half dozen 9-11" perch and some dink walleyes. Worst day so far! (It seems I keep saying that every time I come back lately.)
Speaking of "Off Topic" .... I sure do miss that venison pan sausage that you make !
I hate to ruin everyone's wonderful discussions of sharpening lawnmower blades, cooking and anything but ice fishing but can we get back on point? What are the current conditions? Anyone out on the ice right now? Walking possible? Do we need to start a new thread that actually discusses ice fishing on Oneida Lake?
How's the ice?Can I get my wheeler out?Or should I take the sled?
Went to Chaumont again this morning thinking conditions might be a little better and they were...slightly. There was only about 4" of slush under the ice crust. The ice crust was not thick enough to hold a person walking and wheelers were having a tough time. The sled bogged down a little but did ok overall. Was much better coming in once the crust softened up. The wind was brutal!I got 3 really nice eyes, lost one after a very brief battle and broke another off on the hookset - at least I'm assuming they were walleye. Lost my new lure and broke my new rod on that one (actually BB4's rod . I don't think I used either more than 20 minutes.Brought the scale today and they went 9.4lbs, 7.7 lbs and 7.5 lbs.(Image removed from quote.)9.4lbs(Image removed from quote.)7.5 lbs(Image removed from quote.)7.7 lbs[img][http://i793.photobucket.com/albums/yy213/22kingfisher/02-22-2014Walleyes004.jpg/img]another shot of the 7.7
Good going Kingfisher! I had some buds that went today and the group managed 3 eyes, (2) at 27 inches and (1) at 24. It is a long day for just a few bites but I think it's worth it.
