Just my opinion but I wanted to let everyone know, my lovely wife cooked me up that eye today and it was awesome. Because it was so thick, she chunked it like nuggets. OMG it was so good. I will definitely be keeping those fish from Ontario if I ever get into any again. Also Racer weighed his and I believe he said it was 8 pounds.

When I get one over 10 I'll put it back but only after taking photo's and measurements.  I'll get a fiberglass replica.  Close enough for me.  That's what I say now.  We'll see when it's laying there.  It's a funny thing about good size fish and bucks.  Sometimes it's hard to do what you say you're gonna do.  This year I said I was going to wait for a bigger buck.  Next thing I know I'm at full draw, the arrow flew and we had a dead 5 pt.

I guess I'll have to get right back at it.  Maybe we'll have the answer this year.  LOL.

I have a nice 96 polaris indy lite that I might get rid of as soon as I can run the Atv on the ice. If anyone is interested, pm me. A few of you have seen me out there on it.

whats that old saying......don't be signing checks with your brain that your body can't cash......the older I get the truer that becomes :'(
An old friend told me many years ago when I tried to drag him out deer hunting one day..."the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak"  I couldn't comprehend what he meant at the time...what a difference 30 years makes...starting to understand!

There is a foot of snow with drifts over 18 inches. Decided to go out of constantia instead. I walked but sleds had no problem, no one went out of apps.

That's a great place to start.  Would be even better if it was on Oneida!   Don't think there's too many in that range in there though.  Great job on the fish guys, they looked awesome!

I'm fishing vicariously through you guys since I've spent most of my time in my truck plowing.  Can honestly say I'm not really excited about the warm up (like to snowmobile as well) but it does guarantee I will have more time to fish!

How's the slush situation on the North Shore?
It looks like a beautiful day to fish but I didn't want to deal with the possibility of getting the sled stuck.

Current Snow Conditions

Obviously conditions are tough, wheelers are a no go (unless you have tracks)
Some sleds are having a tough go of it.  3 friends on 2 sleds had to work at it.  The 2up with 2 guys plus towing gear wasn't going to be able to blaze it's own trail.  Had to pack down a trail with a couple runs over it with the lighter sled & no gear first.

When blazing new trail sleds are sinking in 10+ inches in lots of spots.  Certainly not for the faint of heart this weekend.  The pic below is a couple hrs ago of my oversize pack boots, they're 15" tall.  I'm finding snow depths with the drifts 10-24".  I'm 6'2" and sinking in from mid-calf to sometimes just a few inches below my knees.

Slush is hit or miss, some places few inches of it, others not bad
Good Luck!

bcons,
Thanks for the report.
Based on that and the way the bite has been recently, I guess I'll just stay home for the game.

As stated already, the lake is a no go for quads! Tried in vain to get out if apps yesterday, got about 40-50 yards off shore and it was a BRUTAL grind on my machine! Didn't want to chance what could have ended in disaster. I have a 500 arctic cat, chained and dragging nothing, she was not happy to say the least. Came back in, spent the night and came home this morning. Gotta take one on the chin sometimes, whatcha gonna do.
