Fished oneida for the first time today just wanted to give Bartel Bait shop a shout out. Me and my buddy stopped there today and he was very helpful and with his info we caught quite a few perch can't wait to fish there again when those big perch I heard so much of start hitting again.

From the guy who spent the day before scouting the pond  ::) Ya beat us by 3oz on 20 fish & you did a days worth of homework, I hadn't been on the pond for a year. :P :P :P :P :P

I just wasn't skeered enough to drive up and back just for practice  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

for the record. i had not fished the pond since the tournament last year myself. and i spent the day on the friday before getting my broken wheeler towed off the ice. and saturday i borrowed a wheeler to get out there. coach did his home work and picked a spot on the map showing some structure and we fished it and made the best of it

Ya said you went out and fished the same spot the day before at the weigh in and only got a few ???
Hmmmm guess I'm confused.
Maybe its time for a showdown at high noon ;D
Unless you're skeered? :P

I posted a simple question late last night woke up this morning got on site and poof coincidently my question was REMOVED so let me rephrase this question and I wont direct it to a certain individual this time  I have a friend who might be interested in a new suit does anybody out there no of a place (not on the west end of Oneida lake who has a rep he talks to about) either a bait store or a other store who might have a stricker suit in stock so they can look at it before purchasing one
A ways away, but Chapman's, on Black Lake, has a few suites in stock and on sale.  I don't know the models or sizes he has.  You could give him a call.  Think he has the same rep as any of the locals around CNY.

Racer and Pooch I just talked to my buddy who lives on the bay.  He has both a snowmobile and a 4 wheeler and has been using the sled.  Thinks it might be a tough go for the wheeler.   I don't know how much I would rely on a Chaumont hardware report, I think I would want to hear from someone more objective.   You might want to go to that thread and PM somebody with a 4 wheeler before heading up.  Just a suggestion.

I bought the hardwater edition brand new this year after a lot of research.  I absolutely love it.  Lemme know if you have any specific questions, I would be able to help you with your decision.

I know Oneida is a Walleye/Perch Factory and this is probably goofy to talk about but does anyone other than myself target the limited Northern Pike population on this lake?  I have been a few times this year and although me and my kids have been blessed with countless chain pickerl, we were lucky to catch 2 pike over 10lbs this year.  I just dont see many people at all targeting them.  Is it that they are that ellusive or that they are not as tasty as walleye and perch?

I only got out for a few hours caught 2 dink perch, but saw what looked like a plane landing with skis either on the lake or on the North Shore East of Cleveland.  My buddy I was with got skunked completely.  I was in 20FOW between two rock piles that go up to ~15-16 FOW should I be going deeper?

Was it a plane like this one?  This was from Saturday.

Well we finished the day with 3 eyes and 2 jacks- just wanted to give a shout out to the two guy on the wheelers mid lake that helped us big time today- offered to try and jump start my buddy's sled and when that didn't work took him back to Taft bay so we could devise a better rescue plan- of you're on here thanks a million!!! ;) ;)
Why work when you can fish?<br />

I seen that plane out of chapman on Saturday while moving around, I stopped the snowmobile and said to the wife we need one of them never have to worry about getting stuck in the slush or crossing pressure cracks. She just gave me that look and said keep driving. The only question I have is do you need a rigid tow bar to pull a shanty? ;D

Thanks for the feedback on Chaumont.  I've always wanted to give it a try but just couldn't tear myself away from Oneida.  Looking forward to a fun day in a new place.  I have an electric lazer.  I wonder if the hardware store up there will have an extension.  I've never seen 30" of ice!

How many holes are you getting per battery on your Electra lazer?

"How many holes are you getting per battery on your Electra lazer?"

Depends on ice thickness but about 12 to 15.  It also includes a jumper cable that lets me connect direct to the wheeler then I can drill as many as I want.  The only time I use it is when I have the wheeler so it's no big deal to me.  If I didn't use a vehicle that I could jumper from, I'd spend the extra money on an Ion.  Or, an extra battery isn't that expensive.  It is heavy compared to the Ion but cost a lot less.

I'm frustrated enough I was surfing the web & YouTube yesterday for ideas on new tackle.  Found some odd looking perch jigs used in open water.  Ordered $35 worth ::)
If at first you don't succeed go spend more money and throw something else down the hole.

Where is the best place to get laser blades sharpened, or is it better just to bite the bullet and buy new blades?
