Holy Smokes dude ....    #2745646 - 01/09/12 04:46 PM    My Striker Ice Floating Suit Review

2 years ago ? I don't even think they make that original suit any longer ....  (Image removed from quote.)
That's the problem ! ::) ::)    Striker is just a name they tagged their ice fishing suits with.  They've been making suits since 2005 under various trade names.
When I was looking to buy a Striker suit, it was 2 years ago.   That's when they had numerous problems with their older suits falling apart.  Because of that, I stuck with IDI and the Arctic Armor suits which I'd already had almost 5 years of use and experience with.

I will just chime in on the suit thing one time. Cross eye you know as well as I 2 yrs in this industry is a lifetime. When products hit they sometime take time to make tweeks. Striker was designed initially for snowmobilers. They have come a long way. Todd frank is my striker ice rep. He spent quite a bit of time educating me on the suits. I believe both them and idi make a great product. Im hoping this dosnt become vex vs marcum 2 because there is no need. They are both good and will both give you a chance when in a bad situation
You have large buckeyes

Is this debate about suits or floating suits?, that "snosuit" from fabrill I bought off dark cloud at the ice show 5 yrs ago is rugged like a carthart, love it, been to hell and back with it .... don't float though.

Snag think it just started as what each likes but I believe like myself I bought mine and colleens because it is suppose to float. I before this just wore wool bibs and jacket and was fine with being in the elements

Are any of these suits fireproof? Just wondering  :o :o
No but the Arctic Armor suit is a bit more flame resistant according to product reviews.
Tussor fabric that Striker uses, will light up like the Hindenburg  in short order.
Tussor is a beetle that produces the very strong Tussor silk.   Striker suits are not silk  ::) ::)
They should advertise it as 320 denier Tussor.....feels "LIKE" silk ....even though it isn't

Drove Cleveland-Constantia today, bring your nitro pills if you are walking, you will need one by the time you are 200 yards offshore. 4 wheelers are iffy at best, might settle down by the weekend. At least a foot of powder on the lake now, more in spots and found a few slushy spots but not many underneath.

Turning into a textile & entomology class  ::) ::) :P :P

News flash bite is still slow, perhaps worse than last weekend if possible.  Neighbors were out all day between 2 of them 5 perch & 2 eyes kept.  These guys are normally pretty good.

Should of seen Altmar in the 90's, it was nonstop craziness.  It got pretty nuts  ... especially salmon season.. never thought I'd live to be 40 let alone 45.

Man this thread really flies when no one is fishing.. Hey Devo, I also bought a Snosuit at the Syracuse show 5 yrs ago and it is not fireproof! I had to do a "duck and roll " in the snow last year when my Mr. Buddy was not my buddy. Never burst into flame, but got real close.   Here is another one for you - I have worn the suit on real cold days hunting. Slimy perch smell and all. I think the deer like perch scent, always seem to get one while wearing it.

No doubt about that !   Frabill has been quietly making the best "Non Floating" ice fishing suits that we've had available to us here in the USA for the past 10 years ! (there are some incredible suits from Europe that we haven't had access to....yet)
The suit that you have would still be a top seller if it was made today !    I believe it was the predecessor to the black Frabill FXE suit that Adam wears.

BTW....Happy Birthday to you .....and Tank !

I would bring the wheeler and judge saturday morning for yourself.
Last weekend it was 4-8" in most spots.  This new snow is very dry light & fluffy.  Light breeze 6-12 all week will lay it down some.  At or just above freezing Thurs. Couple above Friday.  Hopefully what's left not packed down will get warm and damp and compress a decent amount.
Cold Friday night through the weekend will stiffen it right up.

I'm guessing 5-10 fairly packed inches this weekend (as long as that storm stays south).

Everyone knows their machine & ability, but thinking wheelers will be all over this weekend
Good luck.
