Herb phillipsons still had a decent selection a week ago.

They're all out of them now.  I stopped by last night to pick up some ice cleats for my little girls and noticed they were all gone.  I was hoping to pick up a few of the size 2 and size 3 silvers.

I have some of the Northland puppet minnows that are about an inch long but they're chartruese and yellow.  You guys think those will work just as good.

It might be a poke for you but have you tried Apps' in Cleveland ???  I lost my favorite yesterday, I knew if anyone would have it, Rick would.  And he did ;)

He said they ordered more stuff and is on the way.  This guy probably has more lures for ice fishing than those stores combined.  Not gonna say the cheapest but as a small business owner it's good to patronize the little guys too ;D

. Number 5 jigging rap works best for me. Good for walleye and not too big for perch.  I like chartreuse for the eyes. Been good for me this year. But like anything ya gotta change it up

JackPerchSlayer strikes again!

Went out today with a good friend of mine. We went out of Chapman Park. It was my buddies first time ice fishing and it was an overall good day for me and a great day for John. Was raining pretty hard when we walked out and picked up as the morning went on, quit around lunch. Stayed out until 3:00 and the bite was just picking up and my buddy had to go to class in Utica.

There was at least 2+ inches of water on the ice everywhere except where snow got compacted and did not melt. No problems getting on but had to use the plank to get off. First time for me, I was not enthused but it went fine. John had bad boots and the 4 inches of water on top by shore was too much for them. Wet feet in the first five minutes. Not good.  Spent the rest of the day working to get his feet dry. Ended up giving him my dry sox and boots. Ill take the cold feet over the new comer having to. Nothing worse than frozen toes at 8:15!!

Set up about 400-500 yards straight out from the green topped building. 25+ FOW.  Slow bite for the most part. Got my first perch on a Jigging Rap. I used a #5 glow perch Jigging Shad Rapp. Only got two fish on it but the two were the biggest of the day. Used buckeye heads and eyeballs. Had a lot of bites on it but my light action pan fish rod made me miss a lot of bites. Not enough backbone. Got most of the fish on an orange and chrome small teardrop shaped jig. I have used it for years and have great success with it.

Kept ten or so. Some are small but they helped make a dinner out of the catch. Got a good handful of dinks but kept my buddy excited.

Not a monster like some of you mobile guys are able to find but it’s a nice fish.

Caught my first fish on a tip-up today. A 15+ inch Barbot. I was so stoked. I was using an unconventional rig. I used a 3 foot mono leader(that’s all I had) with a plain small circle hook and a good sized buckeye. Good thing he wasn’t a toothy one I probably would have lost him. How do you fillet a Barbot?

How can I post just one of each picture instead of two? I made the photobucket account and did what someone posted a while back and this is all I could get it to do. Help me out. PM me with help if you can.

If anyone needs a place to stay tomorrow night (Wed) and / or Thursday night, Cinderallas in Sylvan Beach has one room available.   My brother in law and I had to cancel out.   Great price $$35/ man / night.  Just trying to help these folks rent the room.   TKS

Fished constantia today, took the four Wheeler. Went past 2nd island, had 8-10 inches everyWhere, moved about 20 times,, all fish Were tight lipped,  Ice is good and solid but i did see about 4 areas Where the old auger holes Were 3+ft in diameter, you could deff lose a machine or yourself in one of those(these spots are past the 2nd island)..hopefully they Will tighten up after a couple cold nights..scriba creek is runnin like a mother today...be safe ..

I actually prefer the shoulder strap if you will.... Cut it into half inch medallions and sear it lightly in butter with your fav. seafood seasonings and enjoy!
