A great option that I used to use when I ran sleds on the lake was "Food Grade" Silicone spray. You can get it in big spray cans at any restaurant supply store. It's made to withstand extreme heat, it's non toxic and it stays where you spray it ! It's mostly used for the hinges and moving parts in pizza ovens, rotisseries and other restaurant cooking apparatus. Matter of fact, if you spray down your track and suspension, it keeps the ice from forming on them as it sheds water really well ! I use it on my augers to keep the ice build up at a bare minimum. Being non toxic, I've sprayed it in the ice hole to keep it from freezing ! Pretty universal and handy stuff !
Hey you guys out there fishing today, how much thickness has that ice put on in the recent few days? Gotta be gettin pretty thick!
Fridays the day, perfect barometer and I got a doctors appointment, give em hell John.
scratchers might work for track lubercant but not keeping the heat enchangers cool for the engine to be safe! it will run hot, and overheat! use a wheeler when u have no snow!
choo choo, I had to go with these, you can go reverse without ruining them. With my senility it was a no-brainer for me.
hope youre right snag, which youre rarely wrong. Im headed to cleveland from sun up to sun down. Possibly taft as well. Anything will be better than sunday.
Snag I sent you a pm
Got out this a.m. to my favorite spot on oneida. 4 keeper eyes, 2 perch, and 8 shorts. That lake could use a lil snow on top. Had to work for them it wasn't like over the weekend.
fished mon /tues bite seemed to slow probly the heather wind was brutal
I found a post on the equipment section last year that showed how to make scratchers out of a hay rack fork. They attach to the skis. Cost about $20.00 and they work really well. They throw a good mist of ice chips. That and a fan cooled sled and your good. I melted the sliders off my old sled several years ago, not good, ended up having to rebuild the engine. My brother said why are sparks flying out of the track, I stopped, the engine stalled and wouldn't start. Also ruined the vintage track, which took forever to find a replacement, expensive lesson learned.I used to run a Ski-doo tundra for ice fishing which had sliders. To prevent the slider melt, I took a gallon jug and mounted it under the hood, mixed 5-1 dish soap to windshield washer fluid ran one PVC tube from the jug into a manual primer that I mounted on the dash. then two PVC flexible tubes from the primer to front section of each slider.i sold kits
Whats sunday?
I'd rather run scratchers and maybe have to replace hyfax every 2-3 years than dump soap and washer fluid into the lake every time I go fishing.
January 12th? or was it the 6th?
Has anyone used the aqua vu on this lake? Just wondered if it works there and if you can see the eyes coming in....Sorry im a new guy to this thread
