They are slimy buggers, but easy to clean. I let them freeze a bit if I can, but if not just grab a dish towel. My fav. way to eat them is baked with ritz crackers on top, then a white wine butter sauce. But they are great in a bunch of different ways. I have grilled them on the ice with just XVOO and Cajun seasonings, delicious that way. I never fried them but it would be good too I'm sure. You are in MD now right? The closest fish taste and texture wise is Monk Fish. Don't let looks fool you, they are delicious and in a lot of states they are highly prized.

Yup moved down to MD two years ago. I have never ha monk fish before your recipes sound pretty good. It's funny you move to different states what there delicacy foods are. The new fish down here is snake head.  I tried it this spring it wasn't bad not a good as eye or perch but better then other fish iv had.  They aren't much better looking then a butbot just got big chopers lol.

Give Monk fish a try, or even Cod. They are actually a cod ;)

Whats the biggest Burbot you local Oneida guys have ever heard of coming out of Oneida Lake?  I got one last season was only like 24 inches, but from what I've seen they do get huge.  There's some big burbots out Mid-West, I would imagine theres some big boys in Oneida given all the food base.
This sport takes a certain amount of character in a man that we all should respect and take pride in.

well that's easy Apps has rooms and all the bait and tackle you need for Oneida and a place to launch out of , and a restaurant just up the road , that's in Cleveland NY , and far as access many places , east end of the lake , edge water , sylvan beach , north shore , there is Constania and apps ,Taft bay , and the south side are Lewis point if still open this year , south shore boat launch ,chapman park ,Williams beach, if I missed some the south siders will chime in  ;D

I saw some skim ice on the smaller ponds along 81 on my way to Watertown this morning. Did that last Friday as well. Water is definitely a lot colder than it was this time last year  @)

I heard you had the flu glad your feeling better , but from what I heard I got trashed 2 weeks ago , that's fine and there is a new BS thread so if you need another dose it will be over there after this post buster and you got a short memory the last three times out we tied 21 apiece , don't you worry I'll be there as soon as I get the drive way plowed ,must be a proud moment to only be able keep up with me  :woot: I'm almost done sunny
