Does any one still use this website and any one have any guesses on first ice

Still here.
Guessing Dec 8th for my first ice outing of the season. Small shallow protected lake that held skim ice for several days around Thanksgiving until we hit the mid 70's. Hoping for a much better ice season than the last one.

Sandbilly I don't think their is a way in he'll we're fishing by then maybe by Christmas but I hope your right

Yeah this heat sucks probably won't see ice around here till January

Except for the guys like me who're on the site 365, I don't expect more Huskers to show up until ice really starts to form. Sadly, that doesn't look too promising
On the plus side, I'm still catching crappie like nobody's business on a public lake a half-hour from town.

Fishgut nice job on the crappie I'm thinking I need to get my boat out and hope it will bring us cold weather or it stays warm idk

Lincoln as well, I'm not holding my breath on fishable ice before January. Gonna be shivering in my float tube.

If I could have got away in the morning it would have worked. Noon temp was 46 and the 2 inches of ice was not liking me poking around much. Haven't been through the ice since 1979 and I intend on keeping that streak alive. ;) Talking maybe 6 inches of snow tonight. That would help cool the lakes that haven't capped which is most of them. My little lake will be in trouble because it never lost ice.

Still check in occasionally. Waiting for freeze up like everyone else. Until then filling my spare time with bowhunting for deer and hunting waterfowl.

The NOAA extended forecast is for below average temperatures from this weekend until Jan 7...
I am crossing my fingers that they are correct

I check in on my “Home State” from time to time. I have safe ice to fish up here in the mountains of Wyoming, but only trout by me. I fish vicariously through you all for perch, walleye, and crappie. KEEP posting ….. give me my “fix” ! GBR

Western Nebraska chadron. Im bout ready to creep out on the state park pond checked the other day and couldn't quit get on it but close and the pond gets shade most the day it's the fist thing to freeze in the panhandle . Some decent fish in as well.

A few fish through skinny ice in Cherry County yesterday. -2 this morning should help add a little.

Still on ice shanty from the southwest NE. Looks were a ways out to on the ice around here. Probably have to go north to on ice. Hope that is soon!!!

Still here, but still waiting for fishable ice in my area - probably going to be still another week or two out, and that's if the forecast stays as cold as it is and doesn't trend warmer (like the entire month of December tended to do)...

Looking at the 14 day projected forecast... Up here in North East Nebraska, by the 8th, we should have some clear, safe, fishable ICE!!!

The Nebraska Ice Map shows some activity in Northeast Nebraska and in the Sandhills. Hopefully ice building continues before the snow blows in.

Was able to get out in the Lincoln area yesterday; had 5-6" in the sheltered areas. Bite was tough, but managed a handful of gills, a couple crappie and a bass, so I can't complain!

My buddy, fished Danish Alps this morning. 7" of solid ice on the North East corner of the lake. The Crappie bite was slow.

I don't frequent this board outside of ice season. Do appreciate those willing to share ice/fishing reports. I primarily fish North Platte and west/north in the state. Planning to get the kiddos out this weekend, weather looks good.

Hey all, haven't been on here in a while.
Looking for info on Ixe conditons oarounf Ogallala and the Cresent Lake NWR. Headed that way with family in the next few weeks and wantimg to hit the hard water.
Will send update on ice conditons and catch report afterwards.

Ice conditions can change "in a couple days", be sure to check back shortly before you leave for more current conditions- or check the Nebraska Ice Map for updates!
We expect an update soon for Merritt and the Refuge lakes on the Map.
