Constance Lake, North
« on: Feb 21, 2020, 10:05 AM »
Is Constance Lake east of Iroquois Lake accessible and drive-able with 4x4 truck? I'm hoping to give it a try this weekend. I'd like to put a Splake on my list this year. Any info on ice and location to put a shack down is much appreciated.

It’s tough going in that area right now. The odd guy is still pounding through with a truck but lots getting stuck as well. If it were me I’d take a sled

I was at Constance yesterday. There were a couple trails you could follow but if i got off trail i was digging out. Same for other lakes in area. If your not picky bout your spot you can drive on. I only had one bite. A nice splake and i lost her in the hole. Dammit!

I was talking to a fellow angler on the ice and he said he saw several pike get caught on Constance last fall. Has anyone else seen or heard of pike in Constance? I hope they don't multiply. That would be a disaster.

Interesting. I can't find any info on pike being in Constance Lake. Are you certain it is the one just east of Iroquois? Netting reports going back many years only list splake and rainbow. I sure hope someone didn't drop a bunch of small pike into it.

I have fished Constance for years. This is the first time I've heard of pike. I'm just asking if anyone else has heard this. I have never heard of pike before. I'm just trying to confirm one person's claim.

that area had very high water levels a few years back.  i know lots of sloughs filled up with all sorts of fish.  also heard second hand stories of pike in constance around that same time.  hopefully just a few slithered in there and have been bonked.

You nailed it canada. If you are not gonna be there before sun up better off going elsewhere.

Was up there last weekend. Only mistake i made was getting in someone elses tracks. Had to put it in reverse get up to like 30km/h and crank the wheel to pop the back end out. 10-12" ruts of pure ice. Once i was outta the ruts i was golden, although i did watch buddy have to shovel out his ford. Gonna say if you dont have 4x4, locker, ice /snow tires, lift you probably arent getting your truck through the drifts. If you do it was a pile of fun to drive through, almost made up for the lack of fish.

As for the fish, saw one on the cam, one down the hole, and maybe a few marks.  We were there for legal sunrise so sounds like we were an hour late.

Not that I know of. Might be able to find a private cabin for rent online though. Might be worth a shot...

I've never stayed or even fished on it before but Lac La Peche looks to have a resort of sorts on it and its only about 20 minutes away. No clue if they are open through the winter months but might be worth looking into.

Has anyone been on Constance recently and could tell of the snow and driving conditions on it?
