Supper was two bacon cheddar brat patties on a bun, and home-made coleslaw. Lotsa dill seed. Glass of milk to wash it down. I've lost 7 lbs and wanna keep it going down.

I gotta make a batch of my 'cukes in sauce....overdoing it on the mac salads lately.

If anyone wants a nice, easy, cool & creamy summer dish...

Reb’s ‘cukes in sauce

1 very large cucumber (or 2 smaller ones)
1 purple onion
⅓ cup of Miracle Whip (NOT light!)
1 good cup of thick sour cream
1 Tbsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp. Dill weed
¼ tsp. Onion powder
¼ tsp. Garlic powder
⅓ cup white vinegar

Make sauce:

Combine all ingredients except for onion and cucumber, slowly folding in. Don’t stir fast!
Peel and slice cucumber thin, add to sauce. Cut 4-5 very thin whole slices off of onion; then quarter them. Add to sauce.
Refrigerate overnight, occasionally stirring.
Enjoy!

A 6" flour tortilla, smeared with red chile sauce, (or you CAN use chili with no beans...the spicy kind) then cover with coarse grated sharp cheddar, roll up and tuck ends like burrito. He'd been head of the US Army commissaries in Korea, and he knew how to cook. Wanted it to stay all Mexican or not at all. Later that year the company closed 'em all. We did a tremendous business....especially from the biker beer joint across the street.

good eats all!!!

i prepared for todays lunch saturday. i rubbed down some chicken quarters and stashed in fridge. i tossed them in the smoker at 250* over peach logs and charcoal. 2:25min. got them to temp. now just covered with foil and resting for 20min. left over green beans from weekend with.

this thread worth peekin at every now and then in summer.

It's a toss up, you guys pick. Beer brats, 2 cheese Reb burgers, bacon cheddar brat patties, or a Lotsa Slopsa loaded pizza. Might save the beer brats for when it's 97* and steamy tomorrow...little cooking involved. Sides: loaded green salad with 'maters, , steakhouse beans, chive/egg tater salad, cole slaw.

Finally got motivated to make my 'cukes in sauce.....didn't have a purple onyum, so I just used a white one.
Purples add some color and are milder , but I wasn't gonna go to another store in search of a purple onyum.

And since filetandrelease was tempting us with his chef's salad, I made some hard-boiled eggs, some seasoned chicken strips, and sliced some ham strips for MY chefs salad later.....gonna keep cool!
You know its steamy as heck when ya back yer truck outta the nice cool tuck under garage and the windows all go *FOOSH* and immediately fog over.
