Can't say I've ever tried chumming for burbot before...
-
used suckers and smelts mucked up a bit, stuffed in a bean can with a couple rocks in the bottom. bend the lid back into place and cut some slices out of the side of the can...tie a line on and drop er down! got that tip from a fellow at the l.b. here in pa, had been a guide at wallaston for 15 years

Try canned mackeral, its nice and oily.

In the In-Fisherman ice Guide they tell you how to ice fish and chum for burbot.
The guy telling the story uses minnows or cut strips of tullibee/cisco to attract the fish into the area.
In the evening he drops some more chum down the hole to hold the fish around the area for the night.
The burbot should be not too far away the next morning.
He also states that burbot like crayfish, so I would guess that chunks of crayfish or shrimp might work also.
