Warmest Insoles you've tried
« on: Jan 09, 2017, 02:16 PM »
I'm trying to find insoles to add to my boots, while I save up for a pair of nice pac boots I have my eye on - I'm not messing with rechargeable insoles, but any advice on which additional insoles are the warmest? Wool? Sheer?

I liked wool, thick as would fit with adequate room remaining for my foot.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

The most important insulation in your boots is what's under your feet, not what's in the uppers. Closed cell foam is a good and inexpensive insulation. Cutting your own insoles from an inexpensive yoga mat is the cheapest way I know. One mat will make many years of insoles. If you're on your feet all day the foam will compress in about a month. Making insoles this way is so inexpensive you won't care how frequently you need to cut new ones.

alpaca wool insoles - I have a 1/2 size foot - they don't make boots like that - the alpaca wool insoles take up the space and insulate

I trust these folks for their products:

Search around - the Survival sock are hard to beat for every day wear.  I do want some dress socks but I do have 2 pairs that will last me a life time.

The Blizzard type - I have 2 pair and I do not have to buy any other sock for hunting or fishing - keep them dry, rotate them and done.
Trust me, when the Zamboni driver says "You won't catch fish through that hole", he knows of what he speaks.

Felt always did well for me. Now I have Baffins and dont need an insulated insole.

Just saw some battery powered ones the other day if your feel get real cold.

Felt wool...never been cold with them...
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy fishing gear....and that's kind of the same thing.

Toasty Feet insoles.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

I don't know if they make them any more but I use to put the wool covered Dr. Sholes in my fireboots years ago when we had all rubber boots, they helped a lot to keep my feet warm.

Felt/wool insoles for the bottom, light liner sock and a good pair of 100% wool socks...

Everything oversized and loose fitting to allow and not restrict good blood flow. If your boots feel tight then they're restricting blood flow.
I wear the LaCrosse snow packs boots but last year I purchased a pair of the Mickey's...  haven't worn them yet..

These help for me when I was tailgating for college football, but good boots are the answer.
