2 Salmon

Was out on long lake naples from 8:30. -3:00.Slow day only 6 flags with 28 traps n 2 jig rods.4 of us got skunked.Still a beautiful day to be out.

Robs salmon made it on the grill along with some venison.

I dissected the gut pile to see what it was eating. Small smelt, reeds and yes rubber worm!


Here is a action shot of Tristan with a small salmon.A quick pic and back down the hole.


I hope to get out a few more times but not sure . It feels like late march conditions at this point. Don't want to end the season with a skunk!

Nice fish, better than nothin.  At least the little guy got to handle one.  Got some colder temps coming in for one more last week should be able to get a couple more times in.  Keep at it.

14" Is legal my buddy felt like grilling it. Was skinny because of the non bio degradable worm it couldn't pass !

Nice day.  that fish wasn't getting any fatter with that worm in it.  They do stock them to get to legal size to be taken out.   Glad you did get something.  I got the big old skunk today.  Even with some of my honey holes jigging I got nothing.

Glad you got out and the boy got one even if it went back.  Bet the salmon was a good eating fishing as fresh as it was

Gee, with so many rubber worms found in their stomachs I'm surprised more people don't them for salmon fishing. With my friends luck, he'd throw a wacky rigged sanko out and just slay them like he does bass.

I have caught salmon on senkos while bass fishing.  Have also caught them on poppers and spinner baits.

worm or not there are no more big salmon in that lake any more not like there used to be.  even if they do have some length they are skinny and raced out haven't seen a real nice salmon out of there in 15 years or so but there is some awesome brown rout fishing in that lake.
