Gotta Love the ADKs
« on: Mar 30, 2023, 05:50 PM »
I hit a lake in the Northern ADKs yesterday. Even with the bright sunshine (until evening) I managed 35 keeper fish but only kept 18 (all I wanted to clean). Mostly males and smaller females. I put several bigger egg laden females back. Last week I kept 18 and all of them were males. Ice is great, insulated with a few inches of snow and about 15" thick. Can't wait to go again next week!

Nice perch.
If fishing is a sport are we considered athletes?

No slush. I had some last week but it was solid Wednesday. There was snow, about 3-4" ice, a little water, then about 15".  It took the whole auger on my ION to get through, and couldn't get my ice skimmer to the bottom of the ice without putting my hand in the hole. I fished about 3 hrs because they moved some from last week. Once I got on them it was good fishing. I put back about twice as many dinks as keepers.
