Chaumont Bay, Duck Bay
« on: Jan 19, 2022, 10:22 AM »
Hello All,

This is my first post here on ice shanty, pretty excited to join the community. I have been fishing in Chaumont recently, and I definitely want to learn as much as I can about the area, and ice fishing in general.

I am wondering about duck bay. Chaumont hardware posted a map of undesirable places due to usual unsafe ice conditions, and duck bay was on that map. Does anyone have an explanation why?
We were fishing near that spot, and I want to make sure I avoid problem spots in the future!
Thanks in advance!

You just have to swing wide around the point by duck bay to avoid the rocks in shallow water sometimes you can see the rocks sticking out of water and the sun melts the ice around the rocks
