Anyone buy and use THE ICE AUGER MACHINE YET?
« on: Jan 17, 2020, 07:11 PM »
Just wondering why I haven"t seen any talk on the ICE AUGER MACHINE.This fellas been making them for 3 years now and a few weeks ago called him to but one and he says hes not making anymore until next year! The seasons still got 3 months to go! Has anyone on here bought one and their thoughts on it? Fully loaded with all the options is $1500. Hes had videos out on You Tube and FB but have never seen a Post on here of anyone buying one. Thanx.

Just to let you all know, they're taking pre-orders right now on their website. Word is they're increasing production for the coming year. They have a $100 discount for pre-orders right now as well. I own one and love it! It's my favorite item on the ice. If the fish aren't biting, I'm out cruising around on it and doing doughnuts in the snow!

Sure, if you have a big enough battery and a small enough driver!  ;) ;D

Lack of popularity is most likely due to price. It's a great idea but I could never justify 1500 for more or less a go cart frame

there was a couple discussions about them last year. The price and the fact that they are not legal to use in some states and the mass switch to electric augers were the main reasons against them. There is only one lake I fish that I would be able to use a motorized transport and if I was going to spend that kind of money to travel on that lake I would get a used quad or snowmobile instead. It's a neat idea and a great home build for the tinkerer with a welder, but not something I would spend money on.

My concern is it seems to run via a Jiffy auger ..which I believe runs counter clockwise ..

It also appears to be a chain drive.  Since you have a vertical shaft to horizontal shaft all you need to do is reverse the twist in the chain to run from a clockwise rotating auger.

Neat idea, I honestly don't think it would make it out of the parking lot in the places I fish....

I'm just glad maybe someone will have a use for my Jiffy 30 now! Because it's basically USELESS JUNK for anything else!

I loved it for many years and yes drilled many holes with it but it has absolutely no purpose to me anymore. So hopefully someone will want to run this thing with it. Won't be me though.

I got one... depending on your weight and what you are towing 7-9 mph... it’ll go through snow up to 10” with chains and the ski option... haters say get a snowmobile but here in southern mi ice won’t allow soooo.... I got a predator... too old to walk... I love mine... pulls me (265lbs) my Otter Cabin, and my brother (230lbs) in a otter sled  no problem... I use the Jiffy Propane auger...
Good luck...!

I have one. Runs great and pulls my sled just fine. Check out videos on You tube or on their Facebook page. I have seen several on the different lake I fish.....They only made a few each year. They are making a few changes and will have them available again in 2022.....

I started to build one but stopped because I realized that we typically have to much snow on top of the ice and I knew I would get stuck. Built a track sled instead.

If you have more then 4 inches of snow on top of the ice, I would avoid one. Be great on hard pack.

This Is laughable. $1500 for what? No motor is even on it. The thing isn’t going to go on any amount of snow hardly. A guy might as well put chains on the lawnmower to pull out. At least for $1500 you could mow your grass. And have a snowblower on it to clear your path. If a guy has a welder $300-$400 you can fabricate your own….not much to them. Personally, I feel it be a waste of time and money. $1500 can get you A LOT MORE then something you can use on 3in of snow or less.

I like the idea of running a jiffy powerhead on a ice vehicle but here in Michigan were theres a ft of wet snow on the ice, it would not go anywhere.

None this year. Hes redesining some things. Why fix it if it isn't broke??? Certainly be more expensive also after the redesign also.He sold out quickly but don"t know if it was demand exceeded voulume or decided to produce a low amount each season.

I talked to a tackle dealer today and he was out West to a show and said he was told they are not making them this year for some reason or another. Seems like the Ice Auger machine has gone the way of the IceGator! With so many posts you would thimk he would chime in and let people know his intentions for this year. But its late in the year and with ice season coming soon he should decide quickly.
