What type of maintenance do you do to keep your rods and reels safe and protected during the spring, summer and fall months.
WD 40 has been my go to, and I store my rods in pvc pipe.
-
i hang my rod bag on the wall. thats about it.
-
Take the reels off (use them for open water) and stack them all high up on some pegs on my peg wall... Always has worked fine.
-
I just leave all my gear in my sled till next season. No big deal.
-
Take off all terminal tackle and leaders, make sure reel drags are loosened, everything is dry, carefully pack into Eagle Claw rod case and throw in a couple of desiccant bags from the dollar store. Goes into attic never to be seen again until December.

Oil the reels with gun CLR oil and rods go on a shelf, did some repairs on some big bait rods I built years ago. Covered the wraps with a fresh coat of epoxy.
I have to check the hut fabric, iron on patches for any holes.

Same here, visual inspection then hang them up.

I take off the reels and put them in drawstring bags I bought on ebay and then put them in a plastic bucket with a lid, empty cat litter buckets are great. I should strip the line because I’ll put new line on them before I use them again but I never seem to. I put all my rods in a hard case, it holds a lot without the reels.

I store mine in a Plano hard plastic rifle case. I use the case when I fish, too. Fits 4-5 combos pretty well. I typically use most of my ice reels for open water, so those stay available all the time.
-
Clean them up , back off the drags and put them in the rod rack
-
Most years I tend to just leave my gear all in the car the whole summer. That way I am always ready!! ;D

hunt you don't take all those on the ice do you?
-
I just cut the tackle off, reel all the line in so nothing is going through the guides and hang the rod tube on the wall for hibernation. I don’t even bother backing the drags, all I care about is making sure the rods are straight without anything putting a bend in them.
Now my bass gear gets stripped apart and cleaned every winter.
