Lock your drill chuck
« on: Jan 19, 2024, 05:27 PM »
I only use this feature for my ice auger so I have to refresh my memory on how to do it every year (after my bit drops out).
Here's a video on how to do it in case you didn't know. (you only need to watch the first 1:00)

Thanks, Brian.  I've been using cordless drills for 30 years and never heard about that feature.  Wonder how long they've had that?

I've known this for a while but not by any manual or manufacturer info. I think a contractor told me some years back. I can say that I've owned Makita, Ryobi, and now exclusively Rigid and they all have had this feature. Pretty neat and it will help.

I assume after locking the chuck, you can unlock as normal?
I wasn’t aware of this feature- but I will be doing it.
Thx

Tried it on my Milwaukee Fuel. Tightened, then backed off for 1 click. Drilled some holes in the ice and it never loosened up. Tried it with my Hitachi and that didn't seem to work.

Thanks a heap. I’ve been constantly loosing bits in the weeds, gravel as the chuck loosens during use.👍🏻

I'll be trying this for sure with my Ridgid gun and K-Drill. It tends to fall off every few times out even after ratcheting it tight.

I found out the hard way, thought my Milwaukee was broke so I kept taking channel locks to it get it loosened.  Here's the Fail, Sent it to factory for repairs, they fixed it but failed to me it had a lock!
