Otter XT 650 Cottage?
« on: Jan 21, 2015, 11:56 AM »
Anybody using a 650 cottage? Is there room for two people? So the sides sweat a lot? Just thinking about going to one to have the option of two people

I have a cabin but can comment on the sides sweating. The sides definitely get a nice coat of moisture on them. The ceiling does not drip at all though. I would also recommend getting a cover for transporting. I had mine in the back of my pickup without a cover traveling to lakes and noticed the lining on the sides starting to come off because of the wind. As soon as I got a cover, problem solved. Otherwise, it's a heavy duty setup that has held up pretty well for me.

The xt model is different from the old series. It has 2 layers of fabric to eliminate that dumb black coating that comes off easily. The new model has a brighter inside. I am not to happy with my wild cabin due to the coating falling off can see light through canvas, new design solved that though. The cottage is the ultimate 1 man easily fish 2 guys with bench.

I agree Hamm's. I traded my Clam Ledgend XL thermal for the cottage XT650 with hyfax kit cover and hitch with the pivot. It does have a brighter inside. I'm hopping the double layer will help with water build up.

Yeah I think so. It worked out really good for both of us. He needed something lighter for loading. He also fished with some Clam pro staffers that wanted him to get a Clam for pics.

I liked it but sold it lol. I'm not sure what I want. I would like to have the cabin but it will not fit in my truck. Otters are built really well but I cannot get the combo I want and have it fit in my truck. I want to be able to get it in my truck plus be able to fish two guys but also be light enough for me to load by myself. I want full thermal and two swivel seats. The Trekker fits the bill but the poles seem really light to Handel the weight of the full thermal. So I will fish the rest o the season with the Bigfoot

Yeah sold it. I want something bigger. I made $125 on it so I was happy. Ice season here is pretty much over so I am going to wait and see what comes out new for next year.

Mine is a 5.5 but with the stupid step handle that is in the tailgate I can only do about 60"-62" at most. The cabin is 66". I said I would never buy a truck with a 5.5' bed then did. The 6.5' box made the super crew look like a bus lol

couldn't you get one of those things that makes it so your box would go to end of tail gate and then nothing would fall out. They look pretty handy. I believe they swing into the box when not in use then flip out when needed.

I would get one of those but it would be really nice to close my touno cover and lock the tailgate. Plus if I get to take my stv I can not leave the tailgate down and pull my trailer
