Not quite accurate on the NY numbers for tip-ups.  Standard regulations allow for 5 tip-ups and no more than 2 hand lines.  The EXCEPTION to this rule is on the St Lawrence Waterway, where you are allowed 15 tip-ups.  Just don't want NY ice fisherman getting excited about possible changes in regulations.  ;D

I was talking about Lake Champlain....

Ice Fishing is permitted to take any species during its open season. Fifteen tip-ups and two hand lines may be used for ice fishing from November 15 through April 30.

In Saskatchewan Canada we are only allowed 2 lines per person hand or tip up, must get quite expensive for you guys to put 15 lines in, what with tip ups and hooks and not to mention bait or gas for the auger to drill all them holes

You guys think you got it bad- in colorado we are only allowed 1 line in some lakes 2 lines maximum anywhere else. Tipups or poles or handlines.
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.
