Handicapped ice fishing
« on: Nov 27, 2022, 10:19 PM »
ever since I lost my left leg below the knee back in July of 2015 due to a knee replacement gone horribly wrong, I pretty much gave up on ever ice fishing again..  now, after wallowing in it for 7 1/2 years, it's time to get back out there...  i still have all my gear but I need suggestions for replacing my hub shelter shack...  wheelchairs just don't do well on the ice..

Most of the popular shanty manufacturers make a no trip door that has open ice at the entrance. Not sure what width you would need but start there?

Depending on your help to set up, Clam makes a thermal floor for their Refuge series shanty

Or if you can modify & make a 2" lift ramp, my cousin is in a chair & i put em in one of these when he' up for it.

Awesome to see you wanting to get back at it!
Is the problem accessing the ice and getting to the hardwater?
or, is it more of finding a way to be comfortable while on the ice?

Well if you have the money, I can't think of anything much better than a Snobear. They are built near me, there might be cheaper options out there, but I hear good things about these. I'd rather have that than a big wheel house myself.
