Barton's Cove
« on: Mar 17, 2021, 11:10 AM »
Hey guys. I saw people out on Barton's coming back from VT Sunday. Just wondering if anyone has been by there since then. Looking at maybe Saturday if I don't go back to VT.
Hour ride for me to check so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Drove by about an hour ago and there was someone in the "inner" Cove. It did not look good, but it is often very thick in there...

Was there a week ago and the ice was still decent 10", but the water was rising and the edges were breaking and got off. That's the real thing that you have to look at when you go, because it's tough to get off when that happens and you get wet. Good luck if you go.

Thanks guys. I know all about the edges there. Have had to do the floating chunk hop many times there. LOL. Looks like it might be 1 more Champlain run

I popped by there an hour or so ago... didn’t actually go check the ice but the inner cove, southern
shoreline all along the peninsula and some other areas were holding the rain pretty well. Further out the it was working it’s way through but still pockets of standing water. There’s definitely fishable ice (at least right now) but it’s starting to get pretty sketchy.
Edges were tight though for whatever that’s worth.
