Why Is Ice Fishing Prohibited at Chicopee State Park?

I see online that it's prohibited, but am curious as to why.

There are other State parks in MA that allow ice fishing, so I'm curious why this one was singled out for special treatment?

They do not even open the gates during the winter months and they always draw the pond way down in the winter as well.

Water is drawn down but I dont know why it's not allowed seeing as shore fishing is. Gates are open year round. They do close earlier in the off season though.

Separate but related question:

How is the fishing there during the open water season?

I grew up in Chicopee, but don't recall ever fishing it while I was there.

I hit it once with my younger son last fall, but only caught a couple sunfish.

Is there anything in there worth chasing?

It's stocked twice a year and is heavily pressured during that time. Ive never heard of anyone targeting any other fish but couldn't say for sure.. I rarely fish it but this is what I witness when  take my dogs there almost daily.

Its a put and take pond, they stock it in both spring and fall and it's deep enough to hold them over through the summer months as well.  I have seen people bass fishing where the water comes into the pond but have never seen anything of any size worth writing about.
