Greasing Reel Bolts
« on: Feb 27, 2021, 03:14 PM »
I’ve had my Jack Traps for about 10 years now and I’m now noticing the reels are a little wonky on the reel bolt. What type of grease do you guys use on those?  I probably should’ve done it before now but better late than never I suppose

A little late to the party here, but check out Everett lures sealed reels for jack traps. I’ve had my traps a decade as well. Hated that when it was really cold the grease could wind itself right out of the reel. Sealed reels are awesome. Never freeze, and no grease into the water. Perfect upgrade to now make my traps last forever,,, I hope.

Those sealed reels are nice but at $50 a piece they are impractical. Keep your jacks full of white lithium grease and you will have no issues.

You can buy a grease gun and grease right from Jack traps with instructions and they send it within a day or two.

That’s for the trip mechanism not the reel.
