I know the people that went in. they told me what happened the next day. came down from mass to pike fish. it was really a scary time for them. they are done ice fishing for the year. the boy gus did catch a nice pike. the trip was for him to get his first pike. I believe they are IS members. one goes by Skimo on the mass site.

I can't see why they would come  down from Mass. where there is still plenty of safe ice, to fish down  here and play  Russian Roulette.

X2 on that. A number of people have gone in at Pachaug over the years, some got out, some didn't.

What did they lose?  I have a bunch of stuff laying around that I could hook them up with.  Including a set of heritage lakers.

I think I saw on Facebook somebody went out in a kayak with claw hammers to drag themselves around and recovered their gear a couple days later

Species caught : largemouth, smallmouth,  bluegill, perch, White perch, crappie, trout, catfish, bowfin, pickerel, pike

Not gonna lie, I thought about using ice climbing axes to do this with my kayak to get in and out of lakes with ice on the edges 😂

I know this is an ice fishing forum but I was curious if anyone has fished the Willimantic River or any other rivers in the eastern part of the state recently. I’m going to try my luck on the north end of the Willimantic tomorrow (stocked recently). I assume the water is really high with all the snow melt but I’m getting the itch to get out there.  @)
