Took the girls out

Finally took my girls (4 & 7) out on the pond tonight.  Wasn't very hopeful,  haven't ice fished it much in recent years but they wanted to go bad.  Went out and checked the ice and it was pretty crappy but good enpugh.  Cut a few holes and fished a bit and finally caught a 4" gill.  Decided after that I would bring them out one at a time and left the festivities begin.

Started with Abby, the older one first.  Gave her a quick vex lesson and started jigging.  Small gills just didn't want to commit and then slam, a big bull gill.  Then we decided to move to a different hole and got some big marks just under the ice.  Next one was a drag screamer, huge black crappie.

Then it was Hannah's turn.  Bam, big crappie right away.  Hannah's my boy and I thought she was going to break my favorite pole in half trying to jerk tha crappie out of the hole.  Caught a few more big crappie and called it a night.  Wind is whipping pretty good.

That’s great! Looks like they had a good time. Good job dad getting them on the fish.

THAT IS PRICELESS LOVE TO SEE THE KIDS GET INTO THE FISHING SCENE TO FEW OF THEM DO ANYMORE GREAT JOB DAD AND GIRLS  :clap:

Nice day to get out and it looks like the girls had a good time.  Each was able to get a nice looking fish.

It's easier when it's a short duration in grandma's front yard and the cookies are close!

What a difference a warm night and a little rain makes.  Good thing I took them yesterday because I believe the pond is done.

yea those colored ponds seem to go first.  sun must soak in the darker color?

I think you're right.  This is the first year it had that much dye in it this late in the year.  Opened up a couple different times while I was fishing up north.  So it finally skimmed late and just didn't get much made before the snow hit.  Maybe 3 or 4" on the bottom yesterday .
