« on: Feb 18, 2021, 08:22 AM »
Headed up to Lower Wilson Next weekend. Im assuming the ice is all good. Anyone have any other reports? Fishing been decent? I plan on bringing dead shiners and smelts along with trying some worms. Thanks!

Fished it a few weeks ago.  Plenty of ice, lots of sleds going across it.  Fishing was as expected; decent number of small togue (14-18"), and some small cusk just after sunset.  All fish caught just off bottom with dead smelts and shiners.  Fished varying depths between 10' and 60' of water.  We didn't get into the 80-100+' areas.

Nice! We will be staying on the southern end but I was gonna fish some of the deep holes not to far from there.

I've fished it both hard and soft water and have never caught a white that I can recall.  I assume they are in Lower because they are in Upper, but I've personally never seen one.

They are there in numbers, but not size.  We tend to fish the southeast side in the 24' - 88' range on the survey map, but have done pretty well throughout.  The point directly across has produced as well.  I know a group also was fishing off the southwest shore, but not sure how they made out.  Frequent short sled runs, so I assume they chased some flags.

At the end of the day, the memories are always the reward. Getting to enjoy the Maine outdoors with friends and family is the gravy we are all lucky enough to get to enjoy.  And you're right, the small togue in there are crazy; I've caught pumpkinseeds that would rival a few togue from there!  If you ever get back up, try that southeast side or the point directly across from it.  They're small, but abundant.
