Anyone know how the ice and the bite has been? Was thinking about getting out during the break.

On Sunday I measured the ice near Taylor Beach to be 10 inches. It is some really good ice. Few pressure cracks but walkable.

Walleye are biting not bad if you can get your hook down to the bottom past the Ciscos. With that said the Ciscos are biting quite well.

Thanks drg. Have the Walleye been a decent size? At Echo they have mostly been small.

Most of the walleye have been small with a few keepers in the mix.

Hi All.  I'm hoping to give Katepwa a try tomorrow.  Any suggestions on where to drive onto the ice?  I haven't fished Katepwa in many years.  I only know of the boat launch by the main beach in the park.  Any help would be appreciated.

I caught a few decent walleye and lots of cisco with a burbot mixed in at the far south end of the lake. I walked on People were driving on but the ice is only a foot thick.

Anyone catching much other than cisco? Fished everything from 7 to 35 feet. Two small walleye, ciscos like crazy. Where are the walleye, perch and pike? I’ve only caught one pike and one perch since last may.... doesn’t that seem weird to anyone else?
Treeplucker you having any luck? All I can find is cisco in your usual spots

Bit better day yesterday. Some nice perch, a burbot and more tulibee. Anyone having much luck at the flats by lebret? Or south end by the dam?

Was out on Saturday at the south end.  Fished between 18 and 30 feet.  Caught 1 small walleye, a 3lb burbot, and too many tullibee to count.

Has anyone cleaned any fish at katepwa lately? Find anything in their bellies? What are they eating. Tons of walleye around, small, just not sure what they are eating. Won’t take my minnows or meal worms.

There is a ton of baitfish this year which might explain things.  I went out yesterday at the south end and we only caught one walleye (21") on a jig and a minnow dead stick.  Tried a lot of other baits (cast masters, tungsten jigs, hyper rattles) but could only catch ciscos.

Burbot bite seems to be on in the evenings. I've been camping out there and they bite around 7:30-9:00. I've been catching nice walleye around 8:00 am

Does anyone know how the access is at the Katepwa beach. It was good on Saturday but wondering if it’s degraded since then?
