Not a spoon, but a small round head jig with a 2" curly tail works well also and had really good luck with Johnson snare spoons last winter.

I generally use the same jigs I use for Gills. Even plain Aberdeen hooks work. But no matter the lure my best luck comes with Wigglers.

Without a doubt my go to perch killers are Hali's, in the white with gold stripes and the one with white and green body and orange head.  Both are glow in the dark and they are killers.  I have had problems with the chains breaking on bigger perch, over 12 inches and walleye on the Hali's and other spoons with chains.  Sooooo, I take the chain off and add a small split ring with a hook on it.  No more losing fish to chinzy chains.

Thanks for the info Die Hard, but that clip won't work on the Hali's.  In order to work it would have to have the quick clip on both ends, so that you could put the hook on one end of the clip and the other end of the clip onto the Hali's.  But again, thanks, always looking for other options.

I use chartruse , red , orange , and glow  most all are silver slab grabbers thin profiled I do have a few fatter profiled ones but .. always pay attenion to the flasher when fishing beaded spoons  some time the bite is on the fall and they ignore the rise some time jigging actively triggers a bite.. a lot of it depend on the graph.and what your seeing..

i like the clam mino spoon, swedish pimple, and the CJ&S slender spoon, but for perch i don't think you need to get too hung up on brand. in that shallow of water, weight's not gonna be much of a concern, though i've found that a larger spoon always selects for larger perch, even if it's just cuz the little ones can't get the hook in their mouth.

Around me guys are always using chartreuse Hawger Jig A Whopper tipped with perch eye or minnow head. If you're wanting some reading, click over to Saskatchewan sub and check out blackstrap yearly posts. Plenty of talk of perch bait. Personally I stick with a 5mm tiger strip tungsten with perch eye or minnow head. GL

I recommend a Jack's lure is you want a shallow/beaded jig.  You can find them at the "Frank's Great Outdoors" website.  I have used these hooks for perch on Saginaw Bay for over fifty years now.  I believe someone wrote an article on using them and where they originated a year or two ago.  They have over forty different sizes and shapes.   I like the red, chartreuse and white beads.  Check them out, I'm sure you'll be glad they are in your arsenal.  Almost forgot, most of their jigs are barbless so keep a tight line.  When you get the perch out of the hole, slap them on the ice and go right back down for another!
