That's fantastic. Were you with Zach?  I know he rescued a deer this weekend also.
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

Thanks guys. Yes the crappie were all caught after dark. Bite turned on hard for about an hour. I caught most of my crappies this winter for the first hour after dark using small glow tungsten jigs with some spikes.

Hi Hardwater2. I’d that the Eskimo wide1 inferno you’re fishing out of? How do you like it? I’m trying to figure out between that one and the clam legend xl thermal. I have an old Eskimo quick flip 1 but am looking to upgrade for next year. My biggest concern is the amount of headroom and hookset as I am 6’2”. Also have an Eskimo hub I love and have heard mixed reviews on clam flip over quality but never owned one.

Hi Goose,
I really like it for early ice and depending on what I’m fishing for.  It’s very light and has surprisingly good fishing space for a small flip. It can handle high hook sets on Lakers but I’m 5’10”. I took the factory seat out of it and use a flip over canoe seat to cut some weight as well. All in all the inferno is a great shelter. Easy as heck to load/unload and set up.  No complaints. My favorite shelter is the clam Yukon xl. I’ve stayed the night in it many times on many lakes. Tons of room and is well built. It fishes extremely well and is by far my favorite shelter. I have it set up with tow bar to my snowmobile. When winter decides to “lock in” this is my go to rig.
Hope this helped...

Biggest of the season for me!

The last 2 days I fished Sunday and today I caught my best perch of the season put another 52 in the freezer. 34 Sunday in an all day affair and then another 18 today from 7-1030 was a great last 2 days to get on the ice
If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

Thanks Hardwater2. That’s helpful. I’m mostly a walker. Think I’ll need to try to sit in them side by side and see which I like more. I’ve been pretty happy with Eskimo but that Clam legend with the extra space and sliding seat sure looks nice for around 60lbs.
Tight lines.

I do believe the sled is a bit more heavy gauge plastic in the clam. I wore a hole in my inferno after 3 seasons of use from dragging it. Sometimes that’s unavoidable. I run hyfax now on all of my flip over sleds. No more wear issues.

I’ve been a clam guy , but after fishing with my bud that has an Eskimo ,on the1 man has more room in the tub , doesn’t need a wind pole do to to the design , shirting lays flat all the way round unlike the
Clam only draw back I see is the weight of the seat with the brace

Great point mentioning the skirting on the Eskimo laying flat. On my clam I’m always ducking outside trying to get the skirt flat and bank with snow when available.
