Don't feel bad, the odds of catching on Oneida on your first trip ever are somewhere around 3%.  It is a hard lake to figure out. Don't let the regulars on here get your hopes up.  They are masters at this and have been prefecting it for years or decades.  Bucket time is the only thing that helps.

Thanks, I have caught 3 short eyes and 2 perch. Not marking many either

what chummer said.......was a tough bite today theval.......been fishing this lake for 50+ years and it still brings me to my knees way too much......follow the advice of the regulars on here and you will get it.......but I would say today was just not a good day for your first try on the old girl

So what is this rain going to do to ice conditions tomorrow?
Just make it sloppy on top?

Got off about 2hrs ago. Very slick with a little water on top in areas. Got my limit of eyes & tryed to go to work on the perch for the rest of the day. Picked away at a half dozen decent ones with eyes and on mud monster. Wish I could have fishe'd tommorw.

Moose water was pretty clear, no current from 13' out to channel. High baro yesterday falling today fished till it rained same results lookers no takers the perch I did catch seem to be smaller. People I talked to had same results. I think it's just the late Jan early Feb lul. Bite will pick up in March.

It was definitely a tougher bite today. Slow for me until noon. Made a big move and then I hit 2 Keeper eyes in 15 minutes but I had to leave soon after.   >:(

Avoided the skunk though!

Thanks guys I'll keep at it, would I be better off hitting North shore in the morning or sticking to the South?

Is parking at apps free? Decent number of spots? Sorry for the questions just wanna be sure, staying in brewerton tonight before going home tomorrow.

Fished this pm. Lots of lookers. I had a little flurry when the rain started but for the most past the ones I marked were very fussy. The rain/water had the ice really slick walking off with no creepers. Ice is still in great shape though.

Parking at Apps is free, but I would recommend getting there early. There is a limited number of spots. Rumor has it that you can park at Vella's (gas station next door) if the lot at Apps lot is full. Somebody posted this earlier this year, but I haven't had to do it. If you park at Vella's, I would recommend filling up with gas or buying something at the store in exchange for their generosity. Lance and Lisa are top-notch people and they deserve our business. Also, lunch combo of sub, chips and drink is the best buy on the north shore! Just my two cents...

Tough bite for sure yesterday kept 8 nice perch and dumped 2 keeper eyes at the hole. Threw back few short eyes and some smaller perch. Spoons w/ meat worked better than raps for me yesterday and earned every bite.

Congratulations to the person who pulled   a 28" er out of here sometime this week, a really nice fish for the lake.

I haven’t  been lucky enough to catch 1 in all my years fishing Oneida , I did see a 4- 5#er caught last , in the parking lot  , they didn’t know they were out of season , I explained it end of story

Fished out of Godfrey launch this morning.
Must have landed on the walleye preschool.
About 15 or so shorts.
Lost two keeper eyes at the hole
Everything on raps

Slow weekend for me too. 1 keeper and a pile of shorts yesterday. This morning I got away from the shorts a bit. 4 keepers and a few nice perch. Lots of water on top even when I left at 10:00.

Fishing was slow again today for me,just 2 perch, fished less than 2hrs. Yesterday was bad on the 4 wheeler, had a track coming off then the carb float suck poring gas on the ground and in the air box. That was not enough.
Lost power to the engine and winch

Hit it hard this weekend.  Friday, sat, and this a.m..  got out late Friday 1 keeper eye, some pins, and a couple perch.  Saturday was the die hard derby and I took third.  All my fish came in a.m..  5 keeper eyes, around 10 shorts and pins, and 8 perch.  This morning I dragged my ass out of bed and didn't even care to fish.  Alot of bsing with friends and hanging out and didn't want to make a move.  Came off with one keeper and lost another at the hole.  Can't wait till next weekend.
