-18 here this morning!!!

I had minus 24 this morning. Lake Ontario is cooling rapidly, its ability too modify air masses is waning, you guys are now starting too almost get as cold as the north country.

Snagger is right about the eye bite getting tough in Feb. to much cold, for to long , to early on the season.   Get em early...     have seen this happen many times when winters were winter.

i'm no  expert   that's  for  sure  but I think  Oneida is  going to have the  best season  it  has  ever had  ......  after a  few  years  of  little use on the ice  and  the trillions  of  shad  they had  to eat  and the  buckeyes  I  think that lake is  going to produce a lot of fish ......and theres  always a  mid  winter slump no matter where you fish

X2 - 2014 got really tough for eyes but the perch bite got good.

If we get some good warm ups late January with some runoff bringing oxygen in we might be just fine.

That's fine with me, I can get a lot more meals outta 50 Jumbos than I can 3 15.5 inch eyes  ;) I just want one day where I get both limit's. Came within 10 a few times, but never 3 and 50.

I had a good morning, a nice mix of eyes and perch.  A lot of shorts eyes, but I was still able to get off the ice by 10 with 12 perch and 3 eyes. About 10 inches of ice where I was and an amazing moon on the walk out. Happy New Years!!

I got the 5 year old out for an hour tonight at sunset. We had fun sorting through shorts. We caught 2 keepers each. He did good with some jigging and hook set assistance.  ;D

Stretched the legs out of Constantia this afternoon for a quick trip.  Plenty of ice out there.  Marked only a couple of fish in 2 hours and then humped it back in to Encon waiting for me.  I wished I could have showed him something nice but all i had was my license. Great guy though.  Beautiful sunset and great walking.  8-9 inches of ice by the 1st island.  Great to get out this early.  Love it.   ;D

First trip out to my evening spot that we go to early ice, lost A few and put back twice as many as the 6 me and my buddy got. It was an epic 2 hours fishing really, i'm hooked for trying in the morning again. Had an epic meal tonight, no fish since spring panfishing. We were on 8-10 inches of ice where we were, not saying it was like that everywhere. Lots of pressure cracks, I almost took A tumble over one. Pissing cold as A well diggers butt too. :)

Great job on the eyes, guys. The evening bite has been unreal this year. This is the first year I've consistently caught more fish in the last hour of daylight and beyond.

And there is a lot of 12"+ ice out there already. Just not consistent lake-wide.
