Smelt fishing Ice conditions
« on: Jan 11, 2006, 06:37 AM »
Sorry to bust in on your board(I"m from NH) but I have a question on what the Ice conditions might be after this warm spell and rain. I'm heading up to a rented Smelt shack someware north of Portland off Rt 295 and I was wondering what the conditions might be.

I havent been up yet but it takes quite te warm snap to make the ice unsafe.  If you want to be sure though call and ask they will tell you the skinny.  If it does rain and and dosent get cold enought to freeze it up i recomend rubber boots the water can get deep!!

I was at Worthings last Friday.  There was about 10 inches of ice, so it should still be safe after this little warm spell.
