love looking at pictures of shacks, want to build another one but need to find a place to hide it from the wife.  she says i have way too many right now lol.  Would like to have a wood stove in one some day here, just think it would be cool and do construction here so have tons of scrap wood left over i could be burning up in the winter.

Does anyone have plans for the Japanese snail hut construction? Particularly the pivot mechanism for the conduit.
Thanks.

Nice job horse.  👍

No design on paper. I’ll do my best to describe.
Understand this is a rework of a skid I built several yrs ago. Frame is 1” square thick wall aluminum sized to accept my Cabela’s “build your own” black out shelter which folds down to 34”x60”x 4” thick. Shelter nestles in the rectangular base, 10” Eskimo hangs on the push bar cross member and rest on top of the shelter. Every thing else gets bungled on top. First mod was to ditch the snowboard runners and replace w/ regular skis. Much easier to push/pull. Second mod was a foldout support for the fish finder.
I went into this season not using shelter or power auger, just minimalistic. Once the ice got thicker than I cared to hand drill to find em I started taking the sled w/o the hut. Nurusan’s posts showed the snail used over there. No weight to speak of, so adopted & adapted.
Five 60” arches of 1/2” pvc. Sticks are 10’ for <$3.00. Used pvc elec. conduit sweeps to make the arch. $.78 each.
Cut an aluminum pivot plate (see pic) and screwed all arches to it. Need to leave enough rotational gap between each attachment so they don’t bind against each other through the up/ down position.
3.5 mil plastic drop cloth, 10’x25’ roll $10.00. Cut two pieces 10’x 9’for sides & one piece 3’x7’ for top. I intended to mark all overlap seams and use my Cabela’s commercial sealer to weld the seams, but got lazy and used duck tape, works great. You almost have to tear the plastic trying to get the tape off.
There is one snap in place crossmember that keeps the arches level w/ the frame for transport. Also doubles as a rod rest. Push bar doubles as an outrigger to hold rods when fishing if not windy. At this point there is an open area underneath the push bar. I have a scrap piece of polycarbonate from a greenhouse that I bungee in place if it gets nasty. Otherwise, it’s tee shirt and no wind. I’ll try to post a separate video.

Not finding a tutorial for posting video other than “additional attachments” which I take to be “attachments and other option” which is no help. Sorry.

Converted a 24 foot 1982 prowler trailer to a ice shack , gutted the entire bathroom and holding tanks , upgraded the power converter to a 60 amp , installed 150 watt solar panel with two 1150 ca batteries , 800 watt power inverter , To be able to watch the aqua vue HD  on 32” monitor, took out the fridge and used the propane line from it to run the big buddy heater , very convenient , did purchase the trailer with a leaky roof so did repair the roof then totally covered the exterior of the roof with black line-X , went with black to collect the suns heat
